Today I sent out about 13 queries, so of course I can't sleep. Why is it so nerve racking? Every time my outlook beeps to let me know I got a new email, my heart drops into my stomach! And 99% of the time, it has nothing to do with my queries I sent out. However, I did get one form rejection a whopping hour after it was sent. At least she was fast. That's always nice.
What bugs me the most is the whole "no response" thing. I know more and more agents have been adapting the "no response=no" philosophy, but that doesn't make me hate it any less. I understand that they might adopt it because of the vast amount of submissions they get, but what I dislike is the fact they won't respond because some jerks send an unprofessional, mean lash out after being rejected. If you get a rejection, deal with it. Everyone gets rejected. It's unprofessional and rude to send a harsh response back to the agent because of it! It ruins the process for the rest of us. Personally, I'll take a yucky form rejection over a no response any day. And even though I'm new to the writing game, I would never dream of sending a rude email to an agent.
